The Problem
Sex and gender differences in neurodegeneration remain vastly understudied.
Over the past two decades, the field has established that sex and gender influence Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) risk, biology, diagnosis and clinical outcomes. Yet research infrastructure does not consistently account for sex and gender differences.
The resulting gaps in our understanding affect the validity and reach of findings across all ADRD research.
The Opportunity
Unify global data and expertise to integrate sex and gender differences into ADRD research
Closing the gaps in our understanding of how sex and gender impact neurodegeneration requires a coordinated, large-scale approach. One that integrates data, standardizes measurement, and enables cross-cohort analysis — at a scale no single lab or funder can achieve alone.
S|GN is leading that effort by building an integrated research ecosystem, bringing together the data, researchers, and frameworks needed to catalyze progress in the field.
